Project Overview

EPEC was engaged by PCL Construction Enterprises, Inc. to deliver the high-voltage grid connection works for the 94 MWAC Gunsynd Solar Farm near Goondiwindi, Queensland — a project developed by Metis Energy and delivered under a full-wrap EPC model. EPEC’s scope encompassed the design, construction and commissioning of a 132/33kV solar farm substation, connection to the existing distribution network via a 132kV tee connection to the new Ergon Energy switching station, and the full design, construction and transfer (DCT) of the Ergon Energy 132kV Switching Station.

PCL selected EPEC based on our proven capability in delivering complex high-voltage grid connection works and our established track record as a trusted HV substation contractor in the renewable energy sector. The engagement reflected a shared focus on technical quality and programme certainty — values that were central to delivering a project of this scale and complexity on time.

What distinguished EPEC’s delivery on Gunsynd was the team’s ability to maintain programme outcomes and deliver with precision across a technically complex scope. The Gunsynd Substation was delivered by the contractual completion date, and the DCT switching station was accepted and transferred with positive feedback from Ergon Energy on workmanship quality and attention to detail.
