EPEC Group was engaged by European Energy to deliver the full grid connection and associated infrastructure for the 60 MWAC Mokoan Solar Farm in the northeast region of Victoria — marking the Danish renewable energy developer’s first project in Australia. The project encompassed the complete design, construction, and commissioning of a 66/22kV substation and a 400-metre 66kV overhead transmission line, enabling connection into AusNet’s Glenrowan Terminal Station.
European Energy selected EPEC to lead this project based on our integrated delivery capability and established track record in complex HV grid connections. The partnership reflected a shared commitment to quality outcomes and technical certainty — values that aligned closely with European Energy’s mission to lead the global green energy transition through reliable, high-performance renewable infrastructure.
What set this project apart was EPEC’s ability to navigate both technical and commercial complexity under a compressed program. When initial approval for the overhead line crossing of the Hume Highway was rejected, EPEC produced a detailed risk mitigation submission and worked closely with European Energy’s Victorian contract specialists to overturn the decision, keeping the project on track and avoiding costly redesigns. Facing global supply chain disruptions, our team accelerated transformer procurement by revising technical specifications and unlocking access to alternative suppliers, saving four months on delivery. The project also featured EPEC’s second complete Balance of Plant SCADA delivery, with overhead line assets successfully transferred to AusNet — demonstrating the kind of proactive, integrated delivery that EPEC is known for.
