EPEC Group was engaged by Metlen Group to deliver the full EPC High Voltage works for the Munna Creek Solar Farm, located approximately 60 kilometres north of Gympie in Queensland — marking the first time Metlen Group had engaged EPEC to deliver an EPC project in Australia. The scope encompassed the complete design, construction, and commissioning of a 132/33kV high voltage substation, full HV SCADA integration, and the design and installation of two harmonic filters to meet network performance requirements.
Metlen Group selected EPEC to lead this project based on our proven capability in delivering complex high voltage substation works and our established experience navigating the technical and regulatory requirements of Ergon Energy as the local Network Service Provider. The engagement reflected a shared commitment to disciplined, collaborative delivery — values that underpinned every phase of the project from mobilisation through to energisation.
What set this project apart was EPEC’s ability to manage a technically complex scope in a remote environment while maintaining rigorous programme control and seamless coordination with all project stakeholders. Concurrent works being undertaken by Ergon Energy within the same site footprint required structured interface management across safety systems, construction sequencing and energisation planning — a challenge EPEC navigated through proactive communication and well-established working relationships with the network operator. By leveraging our integrated in-house capability across engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning, EPEC delivered the substation works ahead of the target date, enabling timely grid connection and ensuring Metlen Group’s key commercial and contractual milestones were met.
