Senior Commissioning Engineer

About the Opportunity

EPEC Group is an electrical engineering contractor providing HV Grid Connection, Engineering and Commissioning Services in the Renewable Energy sector.

We are looking for a Permanent Full Time Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our team based in South Brisbane, taking responsibility for ensuring substation primary plant and secondary systems are commissioned with high accuracy and precision. This role will provide a professional technical consultancy and management service through the application of well-developed engineering capability.

Key responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Manage the commissioning and integration of substation projects through provision of testing and commissioning services by internal staff and external contractors, ensuring procedural technical compliance and risk analysis components are delivered efficiently, within scope.
  • Provide professional engineering advice relating to substation commissioning and maintenance requiring proficiency in engineering techniques and methods, which may be subject to review.
  • Develop commissioning plans, outage plans, inspection and test plans and secondary works programs for staging and management of substation primary plant and secondary system commissioning projects.
  • Manage contracts for provision of external testing and commissioning services. This work includes detailed technical management of primary and secondary electrical interfaces between new works and the operational network.
  • Review primary and secondary electrical designs for large scale HV Grid Connection Projects.

Team Development

  • Provide a high-level of Commissioning Engineering support for teams.
  • Development of Commissioning Engineers through mentoring, coaching, training (both on and off site) and empowering them to achieve the requirements of their role and EPEC organisational goals.
  • Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new Commissioning Engineering staff in collaboration with HR.

Safety

  • Ensure all EPEC Group works are managed safely and meeting legislative and client requirements.

About you

    • 3+ years of experience in the delivery of multi-discipline complex high voltage grid connection projects with a background in an engineering design, build & commission operating environment.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels and successfully negotiate with and influence senior level stakeholders.
    • Comprehensive understanding of risk management and knowledge of quality assurance principles.
    • Strong interpersonal and service management skills.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Essential Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.
    • Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ).
    • A Current C Class Driver’s Licence.

    Desirable

    • QLD Electrical Fitter Mechanics License or Restricted Electrical License.
    • Nationally accredited HV Switching Certificate.
