Senior/Principal Power Systems Engineer

About the position

We are looking for a Senior/Principal Power System Engineer to join our team based in either Brisbane or Melbourne, taking technical responsibility to perform and direct activities for power system studies in PSS/E, PSCAD, Powerfactory and Hypersim modelling environments. It is essential that you have previous end to end grid connection experience leading the technical delivery of studies.

Our ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience completing generator performance standard studies compliant with schedule 5 of the national electricity rules. Experience in communicating and negotiating with NSPs and AMEO will ensure your success in this position.

A collaborative and inclusive leadership style will be necessary as you coach and mentor junior staff, building upon our supportive environment enabling the growth and development of our people.

Proficiency with designs, project controls, managing subcontractors, undertaking site inspections and developing cost effective engineering solutions will be required.

About you

  • Bachelor Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics essential
  • Minimum 8 years experience in full end to end delivery of multi-discipline complex high voltage grid connection projects with a background in an engineering design, build & commission operating environment essential
  • Strong HSEQ focus and leadership capability demonstrated by high levels of team passion and commitment for delivery and achieving strong results in areas of commercial performance and customer satisfaction
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships at all levels and successfully negotiate with and influence customer and senior level stakeholders in defining project delivery solutions and decisions in line with performance targets
  • Chartered Engineer with Engineers Australia and RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland) qualification or desire to obtain
