About the position
We are looking for a Senior Civil Engineering Draftsperson to join our team on a permanent full-time basis, working closely with the project manager, engineering manager and civil engineers to maintain communication with the broader delivery team to ensure that the project is built accurately and reflects the intentions of the drafted plans and drawings.
Other role duties include:
- Perform calculations for layouts and designs, including assisting in design computations and cost estimates, and preparation of layouts, sections, arrangements, and similar design documentation.
- Preparing reports, maps, drawings, and plans. Collaborate to prepare reports and plans with the civil engineering team, used to help coordinate production of the project.
- Conduct field surveys and/or inspections and provide accurate, reliable data for use in design activities, quality control and change management. This includes visiting site locations and take notes to produce as-built design documentation.
- Use Computer-Aided Design Programs such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation to create drawings and associated design documentation at the appropriate level of detail for the assignment.
- Work closely with the Project Manager, Engineering Manager, and Civil Engineers to maintain communication with the broader delivery team to ensure that the project is built accurately and reflects the intentions of the drafted plans and drawings.
- Produce, check, and approve substation designs, and other design project deliverables in accordance with standards, work practices and regulations in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner with minimal supervision.
- Negotiate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders regarding complex works, including third party approvals, stakeholders and customers where required.
- Working with other designer to produce design deliverables, lead decisions with the site works, ensuring compliance to EPEC and clients’ quality systems.
- Support and co-ordinate the revision and version control of the design on site, including document registers, design information requirements for sub-contractors, request for information, mark-ups and site instructions, and liaising with the design team as required.
- Ensure all EPEC Group works are managed safely and meeting legislative and client requirements.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering acceptable for membership of Institution of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the design and development of high voltage systems
- Strong understanding and knowledge of high voltage substations and transmission lines
- Experience in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Sound knowledge and understanding of all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ) preferred
