What is EPEC Technologies?
Strengthening Project Delivery through Technologies
Technologies sits across EPEC’s business structure – engineering, projects and operations – and enables the broader company to deliver more complex work with stronger technical assurance.
We do not deliver major EPC projects directly. Instead, we provide the specialised innovation, analysis and integration capability that allows EPEC Group to:
- Pursue more complex issues
- Integrate emerging technologies smoothly
- Strengthen commissioning and operational performance outcomes
- Offer a feature-focused, full lifecycle service to clients
Technologies is a foundational capability for EPEC’s growth, supporting clients from project initiation through to long-term operations and performance
Technologies Across the Project Lifecycle
Our Core Services
Technology strategy and assessment
We assess technology options and support equipment selection and optioneering for complex renewable assets, including inverters, BESS systems and hybrid configurations.
Hardware in the Loop (HIL)
We apply Hardware in the Loop (HIL) testing to validate control strategies, equipment behaviour and system interactions in a controlled environment before deployment.
Control systems and integration
We develop control system concepts and integration solutions for multi-technology renewable sites - especially where multi-OEM interoperability and site-level performance are critical.
OEM onboarding and market support
We support the onboarding of new OEMs into the Australian market by providing technical clarity to clients and to EPEC, helping reduce uncertainty and improve delivery confidence.
Tools, performance and innovation
We enhance EPEC's internal tools and develop industry-specific products, including VIIVX, our in-house instability detection system, strengthening monitoring capabilities and system performance frameworks to support delivery assurance and long-term operational outcomes.
University Collaboration
We collaborate with universities and research partners to support innovation, applied research and the development of emerging energy technologies.
Solving the complexity of modern renewable energy projects
Complex renewable energy sites are becoming the norm: hybrid configurations, grid-facing control requirements, multi-vendor equipment, and evolving performance expectations. These factors increase technical risk if technology decisions and integration planning are left too late.
EPEC Technologies helps reduce uncertainty early, supports more robust design and integration pathways, and strengthens technical assurance so projects can be developed and delivered with greater confidence in performance outcomes.
Why Choose EPEC Technologies
- Willingness to take on complex, multi-technology and multi OEM control challanges
- Strong capability in problem-solving, analysis and system integration
- Growing recognition that EPEC can support both new and established OEMs
- A reputation for developing tailored solutions for challenging renewable energy sites
VIIVX: Instability Detection, Built In-House
VIIVX is EPEC's first fully in-house product, an instability detection system built to help renewable generators meet clause S5.2.5.10 of the National Electricity Rules.
It monitors a site's grid connection in real time, detecting oscillations in voltage, active and reactive power, and alerts both the plant operator and the network service provider when action's needed. VIIVX is matched to the released requirements of Transgrid, VicGrid and Powerlink, and runs on compact hardware with a web-based interface for configuration and diagnostics.
Developed and tested on EPEC's Hardware-in-the-Loop rig before reaching a live site.
